They took my phone in school ,Are they allowed to look thru it?

Basically i wasnt cheating, it was in an exam i had my phone in my pocket and i got a text ,and it wasnt on silent anyways i have "doents" on my iphone i mean i printed screen some info from the internet in the exam i was taking xD but i didnt cheat and she knows so because she was watching like a hawk anyways ,they wont get it back till TUESDAY?! are they allowed to do this?? willl they look in it?
